In the Big Rapids area, the Muskegon River is well known for its fishing. Field and Stream has ranked the Muskegon River in the top twenty rivers of the nation for fishing. 

The predominate game species are: Small mouth Bass, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Walleye and Northern Pike. The stretch of river between Evart and Paris is a designated trout area. The State of Michigan supplements the natural fish population with yearly trout plantings from Evart to Big Rapids.

Unlike many of the smaller, narrow rivers in west Michigan, the Muskegon River offers uncrowded fishing conditions. For trip times to fish please double the time on our site.
